Director, NNPCL/CNL Joint Venture Nigeria Mid-Africa Business Unit Chevron International Exploration and Production (CIEP).

Segun Kuteyi serves as the Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) Joint Venture within the Nigeria/Mid-Africa (NMA) Business Unit of Chevron International Exploration and Production (CIEP).

In this role, he oversees Chevron’s more than 60 years of operations in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, managing onshore, swamp, and shallow water assets and concessions. These diverse assets reliably explore, produce, process, and transport significant quantities of crude oil, natural gas, condensate, liquefied petroleum gas, diesel, and naphtha. These resources contribute to providing affordable, ever-cleaner energy that supports global human progress.

Previously, Segun was the Managing Director of Chevron China and head of the China Business Unit. As President of Chevron China Energy Company Pte. Ltd. and Unocal East China Sea Ltd., he led Chevron’s value-chain strategies in China. He partnered with stakeholders to build on Chevron’s century-long legacy of providing affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy while advancing the transition to a low-carbon future. Before this, Segun served as General Manager of Operations for Chevron Pipeline & Power (CPP) in the United States.

Since joining Chevron in 1996 as a plant/process engineer, Segun has held numerous leadership roles with increasing responsibilities across Nigeria, the USA, and China. His experience spans operations, facilities engineering, project management, and cross-functional roles such as Manager of Strategy and Business Planning, Manager of Onshore Assets within the Asset Development Group, and General Manager of Downstream Gas under Commercial, Marketing, and Business Development.

Segun is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a senior member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and a long-standing member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a master’s degree in Engineering Management from Nigerian universities. Additionally, he has completed executive education programs at Rice University, Southern Methodist University (SMU), and Harvard Law School.

Segun holds a master’s degree (MPhil) and a doctorate (PhD) in Management from Walden University USA, specializing in leadership and organizational strategy. He is happily married with children.
