Jim Swartz
Chairman, Board of Trustees
Jim Swartz is Chairman & Managing Director of the Nigeria/Mid-Africa (NMA) business unit for Chevron International Exploration and Production, a role he assumed in May 2024. He is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Prior to this position, he was Vice President, Capital Projects in the Chevron Technical Center, Houston, USA and was responsible for the technical and organizational capabilities for Chevron’s global project portfolio.
Jim joined Chevron in 1990 as a Geologist in the Gulf of Mexico. In his more than 33 years career in Chevron, he has served in a variety of roles in the United States and around the world in Louisiana, Angola, California, and Texas. Recent leadership roles include Director for Chevron’s deepwater asset class and General Manager of Asset Development for the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit.
Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1988, and Master of Science in Geology from the University of Oklahoma in 1990. Jim currently serves as Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND).
He and his wife Shelli have been married for over 35 years and have 3 children.
