Cosmas Iwueze

Cosmas Iwueze is the Director of Chevron Corporation’s joint venture with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) -NNPC/CNL JV.

Cosmas Iwueze graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan. He also holds an MBA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California.

Cosmas has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He works for Chevron in Nigeria as the NNPCL/Chevron Joint Venture (JV) Director. He oversees the JV assets, production, operations and maintenance, projects, and technical services in this role. Before his current role, he was the Business Services Director (BSD) of Chevron Nigeria Mid-Africa in charge of Information Technology (IT), Supply Change Management (SCM), Security, Health Safety and Environment (HSE, Nigeria Content, Ventures and Regulatory Affairs (NCVRA).

He had also worked for Chevron in Nigeria, USA, and Angola in other positions of increasing responsibilities, including General Manager Operations, General Manager Exploration and Asset Development, Manager Asset Development, Planning Manager, Operations Superintendent, Contracts Manager, Capital Project Manager, Reservoir Simulation Consultant, Senior Production Engineer, and Lead Petroleum Engineer.

He is an executive member of the board of Chevron Nigeria Limited and all its affiliates in Nigeria, including Chevron Nigeria Closed Pension Fund Administration (CNCPFA) Limited. In addition, he served as a member of the Corporate Reserves Audit Committee (RAC), which required him to travel across the globe to where Chevron has operations to audit reserves.

He is a member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE). He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and has served the society at various levels in Nigeria and abroad. For example, he was the Treasurer for SPE Golden Gate Section, San Ramon, California, 1999 and the acting President for the Section in 2000.

In 2010, during the Late Yaradua’s Presidency, Chevron seconded him to serve as the Senior Adviser to the Special Adviser to the President on Petroleum matters.
