Benjamin Oviosu
Benjamin Oviosu is the managing director/CEO of Octogone International Gas and Oil Company Limited. He oversees the activities of the company in Nigeria and its West African operations.
His career spans over 30 years in the financial services and the oil and gas sectors in Nigeria and West Africa. He started off as a Management Consultant with AW Consultants Limited (now Deloitte & Touche) in 1986. He later joined First City Merchant Bank Limited (now First City Monument Bank Plc) in 1989, working in the corporate finance department.
In 1991, he joined Diamond Bank Plc as part of its pioneering staff and worked in various departments, rising to the position of general manager. He was subsequently appointed managing director/CEO of Diamond Bank Benin S.A.
He later joined Access Bank Plc as general manager with responsibilities for commercial banking. He then served as managing director/CEO of Access Bank S.A., Cote D’Ivoire. He returned to Nigeria in 2013, moving to the bank’s Corporate Banking Division. In 2016, he resigned from Access Bank to start his own company within Nigeria’s oil & gas sector.
Mr. Oviosu holds a B.Sc. in agricultural economics from the University of Ibadan and an M.Sc. in finance from the University of Lagos. He has attended various programs at Citicorp Institute of Global Finance (New York) and the International Institute of Management Development (Lausanne, Switzerland). He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, the Wharton School of Business and Harvard Business School.
