PIND, on October 2, 2019 met with officials of the Ministry of State for Budget and National Planning in Abuja. PIND’s Deputy Executive Director, Tunji Idowu, who led the delegation, explained that the purpose of the visit was to offer assistance to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning based on PIND’s core program areas
Niger Delta Youth Employment Pathways (NDYEP) began in 2018 to develop models of youth training in which marginalized young people are trained in market-relevant skills and subsequently supported into sustainable jobs or enterprise.
This monthly tracker is designed to update Peace Agents on patterns and trends in conflict risk and violence, as identified by the Integrated Peace and Development Unit (IPDU) early warning system, and to seek feedback and input for response to mitigate areas of conflict.
PIND is partnering with the Skills Development for Youth Employment – SKYE programme, a four-year programme funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

The Niger Delta peace and conflict landscape underwent significant changes in 2018. Diverse, interrelated and often overlapping conflict risk factors contributed to the changing conflict and security dynamics during the period.
As we tackle poverty and insecurity in the Niger Delta, not only are local partnerships key but also the facilitation of regional cooperation through donor coordination.
These trackers are designed to update partners and stakeholders on the patterns and trends of conflict risk factors and violence as identified by the P4P Peace Map and PIND’s SMS-based Early Warning system.
