Starting in 2016, the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) began to regularly aggregate data from the peace map into monthly, quarterly, and annual conflict trackers and exclusive thematic briefings, through leveraged collaboration with Partners for Peace (P4P) Network and Peace and Security Network (PSN). PIND has produced a total of 330 analytical products – 312 trackers and 18 exclusive issue briefings that provide a background to the main issues affecting peace and security in each of the 9 states of the Niger Delta region. They highlight the main patterns and trends observed, as well as detail specific incidents at the local government area (LGA) level.
PIND foundation has actualized a comprehensive catalogue of conflict trackers that provide prognosis with possible recommendations for de-escalating or mitigating identified conflict triggers. This compendium brings together all of PIND’s trackers and briefing reports on the Niger Delta in one volume, offering multi-platform stakeholders the opportunity to access and continually reference the rich data and analysis carried out by PIND over the last three years. Whether as an academic resource, a reference for proposal writing or developing interventions, this compendium will be extremely valuable to various stakeholders interested in peace and development issues in the Niger Delta, as evaluation of its impression, shows it has encouraged local analysts to consider potential short, medium and long-term strategies to reduce conflict dynamics.
We hereby encourage civil organizations, academic/research institutions, media organizations, inter-governmental organizations, consulting firms, oil and gas companies and other development actors working in peace and security in Nigeria, to Read, download and disseminate this full PIND Compendium of Conflict Reports for purpose of learning and research, security alerts, conflict analysis and advocacy, planning and decision making, early warning and response.
