As the world joins to commemorate the International Youth Day 2020 themed ‘Youth Engagement for Global Action’, PIND Foundation will be using the medium to venerate and celebrate achievements made by youth in peace building and economic development in the Niger Delta, campaign for more opportunities for youth, and advocate for adoption of successful models of youth employment, overcome all forms of deprivation and ultimately advance the common good of youth across the Niger Delta region.
Working in line with the global theme and situating it within it’s mission in the region, PIND’s subtheme for the year is ‘Youth Engagement for Peace and Development’. The aim is to showcase how PIND’s intentional engagement of youth in its peacebuilding and economic development programs has assisted in transforming the political, economic and social space in the Niger Delta. PIND will use this avenue to display and document successes of youth empowered economically and those who became peacebuilding change agents or champions as a result of PIND’s efforts throughout the years.
To mark the event, the Foundation will be sharing knowledge as well as project short video testimonials through PIND’s various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, NDLink, and PIND website, to provide an opportunity for the selected youths to share their experiences, independent success stories, challenges and lessons learnt in the course of their engagement with PIND and how their meetings with PIND has transformed their lives and impacted positively in their abilities to contribute to peace and economic development in the region.
Also, PIND Foundation will be advocating for the considerations and involvements of Niger Delta youths in policy formulation, prevention of the spread of COVID-19; placing more emphasis on young adults within the age bracket of 18-35 years old and Person with Disabilities (PWD).
