Abuses & Killings by Security Forces
Human rights abuses and killings by public security operatives have escalated in the Niger Delta, causing over five fatalities in the last few weeks. The current trend is likely to continue unless constructive actions are taken by stakeholders to mitigate the risks and
vulnerabilities, strengthen institutional resilience, promote more robust external oversight of public security agencies, and to build
trust between security agencies and the civilian populace.
