On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, the West African Director of Acumen Fund, Meghan Curran visited PIND warri office, alongside Acumen’s Associate Director, Toyin Olubake, and representatives of NIRSAL (Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk-Sharing System for Agricultural Lending) to explore collaborative and investment opportunities with PIND. Highlights were on PIND’s market development interventions of Aquaculture and Oil Palm. A field trip was later made to the United Union Fish Farmer’s Association (UUFFA), the largest artificial fish pond in West Africa, with the intention of all parties building a new model for sustainable development in agrarian communities. Acumen was pleased to see the extent of PIND’s work in the region and an intriguing part of the visit was a tour of the energy efficient building, which demonstrated how PIND is setting the tone for renewable energy in the region.
