PIND has consistently integrated digital innovation into its strategies, recognizing the power of technology in shaping the future of youth in the Niger Delta. PIND has empowered thousands of young people through various projects and partnerships, providing them with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.
This year’s International youth day celebration, With the theme *“From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” is a testament to PIND’s ongoing commitment to leveraging digital pathways for meaningful progress and development reflecting on its impactful journey of youth empowerment across the Niger Delta region.
PIND’s journey began with a focus on addressing core challenges in the Niger Delta, including youth unemployment and lack of access to digital resources. In 2022, PIND commemorated International Youth Day by fostering intergenerational dialogue and showcasing the creative economy’s potential through the Niger Delta Future Fest. PIND highlighted their talent by sponsoring ten youths from the Youth Employment Pathways (YEP) project to attend and provided them with a platform to explore new opportunities. The success of this initiative was recognized with awards, including the Youth & Economic Development Leader and Advocacy Platform of the Year for Niger Delta Link (NDLink). This digital platform promotes regional development through technology.
Building on its success, PIND’s 2023 International Youth Day celebration focused on “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World.” This event emphasized the importance of digital and green skills in promoting environmental sustainability. Training sessions in solar panel installation, recycling, and upcycling equipped young people with practical skills to address environmental challenges while enhancing their career prospects.
This year’s International Youth Day theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” highlights PIND’s steadfast commitment to using digital tools for youth empowerment. Through our digital platform NDLink, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), and Youth Employment Pathways (YEP) Programs, we have provided vital sector-specific opportunities for youths, including women and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in the Niger Delta. By leveraging technology, PIND has played a vital role in driving sustainable development and fostering lasting progress for the region’s youth.
