Empowering CSOs Through ICT/Social Media Trainings

Our ICT/Social Media Training workshop for CSOs in the Niger Delta was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of civil society organizations in resource mobilization and fundraising using a powerful tool advocacy and development. This program, which took place from the 10th -14th October, 2016, at our Economic Development Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was attended by 18 representatives of various CSOs in Niger Delta.

This training entailed individual and group activities that covered fundamentals of Content Development, Effective Usage of Microsoft Excel, Application of Microsoft PowerPoint, Web development and proper usage of Twitter and Facebook as effective Social Media tools.

The impact of the training is clear from the difference in knowledge measured using pre- and post-evaluation filled in by beneficiaries themselves:

As a means of transferring and sustaining knowledge gained at the training, participants expressed their willingness to teach the institute ICT/Social Media training they had just engaged in to others in their association as well as to other groups across the Niger Delta. The participants were very visibly excited at their level of improvements and promised to use all new knowledge gained in the area of ICT/Social Media in their various advocacy programs effectively.
