Biography

Chukwudi has a history of using his background in Geography to provide solutions to social, economic and environmental problems, and build the capacity of youths in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) via hands-on trainings and seminars. He joins PIND from the Building Blocks for Peace Foundation, Nigeria where he served as a Conflict Research Fellow and Project Coordinator.

He has worked in different capacities in the development sector. Some of these include his role as the Lead Researcher for a UNDP-funded project on sustainable solid waste management in Abuja and Research Assistant for the Market Development Programme in the Niger Delta’s (MADE) skills development intervention and Mini Impact Assessment (MIA) for agricultural interventions projects. He also supported Challawa River’s aquaculture project in Cross River State as a Consultant and a World Bank-funded project for digital skills development and virtual capacity building for flood-risk mitigation in Oyo State as a Training Facilitator.

Chukwudi has a Ph.D. in Population and Development Studies from the University of Calabar where he studied the socio-ecological drivers of the pastoralist-farmer conflicts in Nigeria, in a bid to provide transformative pathways to solutions. He has also published his research works widely and contributed to prestigious conferences like the Institute for Humane Studies graduate conference, George Mason University, USA, the Globelics in Ghana, the NetSci-X in Japan and the United Nations University Merit’s Model-based Evidence on Innovation and Development (MEIDE) conference in Cote d’Ivoire.

He holds a B.Sc. in Geography and Environmental Management from Imo State University, Owerri, a Postgraduate Diploma in GIS from Federal School of Surveying, Oyo and an M.Sc. in Population and Development Studies from the University of Calabar. He is an Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) Ambassador and was a mentee of the European Association of Development Research and Training Institute – JUMP program.
