PIND Conflict Briefing, July 2026 – Climate Change and Human Security in the Niger Delta: Pathways to Peace and Resilience

This briefing examines how climate change is reshaping human security and driving communal tensions in the Niger Delta. Data from PIND’s P4P Peace Map and community interviews show that recurrent flooding, coastal erosion, and erratic rainfall, compounded by decades of environmental
degradation, are disrupting farming, fishing, and small businesses, deepening poverty, displacing households, and heightening competition over scarce land and water.
