Ijeoma Chinenye Ekeocha

Ijeoma Chinenye Ekeocha is a seasoned banking executive, strategist, entrepreneur, and corporate leader with over 25 years of experience spanning financial services, insurance regulation, business development, and social impact initiatives.

She previously served as a Federal Government-appointed Board Member of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Nigeria’s apex insurance regulatory authority, where she also chaired the Board Audit, Risk and Finance Committee. In this role, she provided strategic oversight on governance, financial stewardship, risk management, and regulatory compliance, contributing to the strengthening of institutional effectiveness and accountability within the insurance sector.

Throughout her distinguished banking career, Ijeoma held senior leadership positions across commercial and investment banking institutions, developing extensive expertise in wealth management, risk management, retail banking, commercial banking, and enterprise development. As Regional Director, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at Intercontinental Bank, she successfully led business growth initiatives and stakeholder engagement programmes across the region.

A strong advocate for inclusive economic growth and women’s empowerment, Ijeoma actively supported initiatives that expanded financial inclusion and enterprise development for women, promoting access to finance, business advisory services, capacity building, and market opportunities for women-owned businesses.

Beyond her corporate and entrepreneurial engagements, Ijeoma is deeply committed to community development and social impact. She currently serves as a Trustee of the Charleston 169 Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving women’s health outcomes, strengthening child welfare, and expanding educational opportunities for underprivileged children. The foundation operates across Nigeria, with particular focus on underserved communities.

A lifelong learner with extensive international exposure, Ijeoma holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria, and has completed executive management programmes at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA. She is also a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), Canada.

In recognition of her commitment to community service and humanitarian response, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Canadian Red Cross for her contributions during the Northwest Territories Emergency Management response.

Ijeoma brings to board service a unique blend of governance expertise, strategic leadership, financial acumen, and a longstanding commitment to advancing socio-economic development, empowering women and youth, and fostering sustainable community impact across Nigeria, particularly within the Niger Delta region.
