In the Niger Delta, peace is not just the absence of violence—it is the presence of justice, inclusion, and opportunity. PIND’s Peacebuilding program empowers communities, leaders, and institutions to prevent conflict, resolve disputes, and build a foundation for lasting peace and shared prosperity.
Conflict in the Niger Delta stems from issues like resource competition, land disputes, cultism, and youth unemployment. PIND’s Peacebuilding program tackles these challenges through data, local leadership, and inclusive engagement. By combining real-time conflict tracking, community-based early response systems, and tools like the Peace Map and Partners for Peace (P4P) Network, PIND empowers local actors to prevent, manage, and resolve conflicts effectively.
Program aims to reach over 25 million people with safer, more stable livelihoods.
Safety and stability create the foundation for growth and inclusion.
Peacebuilding drives progress toward long-term social and economic resilience.
Real-time intelligence enables early response and lasting impact.
The Peacebuilding program works with:
These groups are not only beneficiaries but frontline actors in advancing peace at the grassroots level.
PIND’s peacebuilding model is built around a robust Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) system. This includes:
This integrated system ensures that data leads directly to action, and that interventions are timely, local, and effective.
For years, the Alesi and Ochon communities in Cross River were torn apart by violent land disputes. In 2022, PIND established the Prevent Council, bringing together local leaders, women, and youth to rebuild trust through training, mediation, and dialogue.
Today, markets have reopened, abandoned farmlands are cultivated again, and former rivals live and work side by side.
“We sat with those we once feared. We listened. We learned. And today, we live in peace.”
