- PIND is partnering with the Skills Development for Youth Employment – SKYE programme, a four-year programme funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
- SKYE supports the promotion of need-based technical vocational education and training and youth employment in Nigeria.
- The course was designed to give participants the knowledge and tools to install, operate and maintain small to medium PV technology solutions and projects required to address common energy market needs and demands in households, for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in rural and urban centres.
- The training focused on the technological aspects of both developments, as well as the business models by developing inclusive business models that can support job creation, entrepreneurship and poverty alleviation in an innovative and economically sustainable way.
- Upon successful completion of the training, participants received a Certified PV Professional certificate.
- The project aims at improving income generating employment opportunities for Nigerian youth and young adults, whose shortage is a major cause of migration to European and other industrialised countries.
