As Nigeria’s tax reforms reshape the country’s tax administration and compliance landscape, it is increasingly important for businesses to understand their implications. However, many Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) still require clear, practical guidance to navigate the new requirements, meet their obligations, and leverage the opportunities available within the formal economy.
To help bridge this knowledge gap, PIND, in partnership with the Warri Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (WACCIMA), the Chartered Tax Practitioners Association (CTPA), and Durbudee Consulting, convened a one-day Executive Business Enlightenment Workshop on 22 July 2026. The workshop, themed “Nigeria Tax Reform Act 2025: What Every Business Must Know and Exploring Strategic Financing Opportunities for Business Growth,” provided businesses with practical insights into the new tax reforms and strategies for accessing financing to support growth.
Held at the PTI Conference Centre, Effurun, Warri, Delta State, the event brought together MSMEs, farmers, financial institutions, Business Service Providers (BSPs), government representatives, and other market actors to better understand the 2025 tax reforms, explore strategic financing opportunities, and strengthen their capacity to make informed business decisions.
Bringing Practical Tax and Business Insights Closer to MSMEs
For many small and growing businesses, navigating evolving tax regulations and compliance requirements can be challenging. The workshop created an opportunity for participants to engage directly with tax and business support professionals and gain practical guidance relevant to their businesses.
In a technical session, Emamuzo Felix Agbugui, a member of CTPA, examined the implications of Nigeria’s tax reforms for businesses, business owners, and individuals. He provided participants with practical insights into the key provisions of the reforms, their policy implications, and the steps required to ensure compliance with the new tax regime.
Delivering PIND’s remarks, Tuoyo Omagbitse, Senior Market Systems Development Advisor, representing PIND’s Market Systems Development (MSD) program under its Access to Technical and Business Development Services thematic area, highlighted the importance of strengthening local business support systems and ensuring that MSMEs can access relevant information and advisory services to navigate changes in the business environment.
Also contributing to the discussions, Engr. Anthony Okoh (JP), President of WACCIMA, and Ayodele Bamidele, CEO of Durbudee Consulting and a PIND Business Service Provider, emphasized the importance of the workshop in helping small and growing businesses understand the practical steps required to remain tax-compliant as they grow.
The sessions enhanced participants’ understanding of the new tax regime, enabling them to manage their tax obligations better, strengthen their businesses, and make informed decisions as they navigate the changing business environment.
