The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) has partnered with the Lagos State Government, the Lagos Employment Trust Fund, the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, and the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budgeting to host the 2024 Lagos State Employment Summit 3.0, scheduled for July 3rd, 2024.
Themed “Job Creation Uniting for Impact: Create, Collaborate, Change,” the summit provides a platform for government entities, donor agencies, and private organizations to convene and strategize on advancing youth development in Nigeria. It aims to highlight successes, promote collaboration, and drive initiatives to address youth unemployment in the nation.
PIND Foundation will be representing the Niger Delta region as a forerunner in addressing youth unemployment. The organization will showcase the success stories of its beneficiaries and implementing partners and use the platform to highlight its NDYEP model. PIND will also partake in a panel discussion with key stakeholders and participants of the YEP program, who will share firsthand their experiences and successes achieved since graduating.
Since implementing the NDYEP model in 2018, PIND has empowered over 8,336 young people with market-relevant skills in emerging growth sectors such as ICT, Fashion and design, Finished Leather Works, Construction, and Agriculture. Additionally, 1,738 young people have been linked to internships and apprenticeships, and 4,300 young people have been connected to waged employment and enterprise start-ups in these sectors.
