As part of its efforts to increase awareness around the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs in Delta State, PIND provided support to the Development Initiative for Community Impact (DICI), a PIND Sustainable Development Goals grantee to conduct an advocacy visit to the Delta State Government.
The advocacy was conducted on October 2, 2019 along with representatives from CSOs, Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF), Itsekiri Regional Development Committees.
Most of the ideals of the SDGs [end extreme poverty, promote the wellbeing of all, protect the environment, tackle climate change, encourage good governance] are particularly relevant to the Niger Delta Region and having stakeholders participate in the co-development of ideas, solutions and responsibilities is vital as
PIND has adopted the partnership approach based on the fact that it enables organizations to combine resources, capabilities and technical expertise with others for greater collective impact.
The SDGs grant will encourage innovative and localized solutions that can shape attainment of SDGs in the Niger Delta; improve synergy and harmonization of efforts between relevant stakeholders through useful partnerships and collaborations; and above all stimulate the prioritization of SDGs implementation in all States of the Niger Delta and ensure that SDG goals are considered and captured in the States planning process.
