The Non-governmental organizations have come together and concluded to tackle the issue of under development and poverty in the Niger Delta region.
The NGOs that have taken this bold step are the Niger Delta Civic Engagement Forum (NDCEF), Foundation for Partnership Initiatives of Niger Delta (PIND) and United State Agency for International Development (USAID). They announced this statements signed by Charles Abani of strengthening Advocacy and Civic Engagement Project.
The statement talked about a five-year project tagged “Strengthening Advocacy and Civic Engagement Project”, which has been approved for implementation and funding by USAID and Chemonics International in collaboration with PIND for Niger Delta development.
It also added that the project was designed to address democratic ills of the nation and that the project would go a long way in influencing development and fast-tracking democratic reforms in Niger Delta.
The Niger Delta Civic Engagement Forum for 2015 is set to hold its special session in Port-Harcourt to discuss critical issues affecting citizens in the process of building inclusive growth in the oil rich Niger Delta region. The forum also intends to use the platform to propose ways forward in tackling problems confronting Niger Delta developments and security.
