We were at Ugborodo and Ago-Nla Communities in Escravos, located in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, to demonstrate the Chorkor Oven to fish farmers in the communities
Chorkor Oven is an appropriate technology that is very efficient for smoking fish, with a capacity to smoke up to 250kg of fish at a time.
Fish smokers who adopt this technology have been shown to smoke seven time more fish than they do when using the traditional drum. This means more profit for the increased yield.
The Chorkor Oven is one of the interventions deployed in the Niger Delta through our Aquaculture Value Chain Project.
