Rivers govt plans another lockdown as COVID-19 cases rise

The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, is considering another lockdown as the state witnesses a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases. The total number of infections in the state is 3,398 as of December 28, the sixth-highest in Nigeria. The number of deaths from COVID-19 in the state is 64.
COVID-19 New Wave: Wike threatens to shut down churches

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has threatened to shut down churches if they fail to comply with the COVID-19 guidelines. Wike made this known during the thanksgiving service in celebration of the 90th birthday of Priscilla Mark, held at St. Martin’s Anglican Church, Omagwa in Ikwerre local government area of the state.
