PIND Accelerates Youth Skills and Market-Ready Talent through YEP Partners Onboarding Workshop

To address the widening gap between youth unemployment and economic opportunities in the Niger Delta, the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) hosted a strategic  Partners Onboarding Workshop from February 3–5, 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The three-day session served as a strategic launchpad for implementing the Vocational Skills Training (TVET) Scholarship Grant, a core component of PIND’s Youth Employment Pathways (YEP) program. By expanding access to technical, vocational, and soft skills training, the initiative ensures that underserved youth across the region are equipped to meet the specific demands of emerging industries.

Strategic Alignment for Scale and Impact

The workshop marked a critical step in operationalizing PIND’s Phase IV objectives, which aim to enable employment for 15,000 youths from 2025 to 2029. This year’s current investments are projected to support the training of at least 4,000 youths, with 1,400 direct beneficiaries targeted in the immediate cycle.

By convening both new and existing implementing partners, PIND ensured a unified approach to strategy and delivery. The workshop provided comprehensive clarity on:

  • The NDYEP implementation model and Phase IV strategic goals.
  • Practical frameworks for scholarship grant administration and compliance.

The Enterprise Challenge Fund’s co-creation strategy was introduced as an additional demand-creation tool for implementing partners to scale the scope of facilitating enterprise development pathways for trained youths.

Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Sustainable Delivery

To ensure the scholarship grants translate into long-term economic gains, partners engaged in deep-dive sessions across several programmatic areas. The curriculum focused on building a robust support system for trainees, covering:

  • Holistic Training Approaches: Integrating technical, vocational, and essential soft skills.
  • Post-Training Pathways: Strengthening job linkages, apprenticeships, internships, and entrepreneurship support.
  • Operational Excellence: Aligning on project finance guidelines, data privacy, and rigorous monitoring and reporting.
  • Inclusive Development: Embedding Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI), peacebuilding principles, and impact storytelling into the program fabric.

The workshop also addressed emerging priorities, including beneficiary profiling and alumni network development, ensuring that the program’s impact is measurable and enduring.

From Strategy to Regional Transformation

The Partners Onboarding Workshop represents a strategic investment in the youth institutions that drive change in the Niger Delta. By equipping implementing partners with specialized knowledge and tools, PIND is fortifying the bridge between youth potential and economic participation.

Through this initiative, PIND demonstrates that youth development is most effective when partners, programs, and market realities are fully aligned. As these scholarships take effect, thousands of young people across the Niger Delta will gain the tools to thrive as innovators and leaders in their local economies.
