To expand renewable energy access for last-mile coastal communities, the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), through its Access to Energy (A2E) program, convened a one-day Model Sharing Workshop on September 29, 2025.

The virtual workshop, themed “Speed and Scale: Building Partnerships for Progress in Powering Last-Mile Niger Delta Off-Grid Communities,” brought together over 50 renewable energy stakeholders, including solar installers, clean energy companies, financiers, and development partners. The workshop provided a platform for 15 of its existing and prospective partners to share knowledge, reflect on lessons learned, and explore strategies for accelerating energy access through scalable models and inclusive partnerships.Strengthening Access through strategic partnership

At the workshop, PIND’s Access to Energy Program Manager, Dr. Teslim Giwa, presented PIND’s three flagship models for driving renewable energy adoption in the Niger Delta: Solar Refrigeration, Energy Cabin, and Solar electrification. He explained that these solutions have already improved the lives of more than 10,000 people across the region by:

● Expanding access to reliable, clean electricity for households.

● Powering small businesses and local enterprises.

● Electrifying healthcare facilities.

● Reducing post-harvest losses for farmers and fisherfolk.

● Supporting community-led renewable energy initiatives that drive livelihoods and economic growth.Key Outcomes of the Workshop:

The workshop provided a collaborative space for participants to exchange insights, tackle implementation challenges, and identify opportunities for scaling. Key outcomes included: ● Strengthened partnerships to accelerate deployment of clean energy in underserved communities.

Identification of financing and investment opportunities to sustain and scale renewable energy solutions.

Recognition of policy and regulatory priorities needed to create an enabling environment for rapid off-grid energy adoption.

Enhanced access to data, tools, and technologies to increase efficiency and foster innovation.

Promotion of proven models and success stories as replicable approaches for expanding energy access across the Niger Delta.Looking Ahead: Powering Inclusive Growth

The Model Sharing Workshop underscored the PIND’s commitment to scaling clean energy solutions that go beyond powering households—they strengthen livelihoods, fuel small businesses, and create pathways for inclusive economic growth.

As part of its Phase IV strategy, PIND will continue to champion innovative solutions for off-grid communities, deepen collaboration with private, public, and development partners, and Scale proven renewable energy models that drive sustainable development across the Niger Delta.

By building partnerships and sharing models that work, PIND is helping transform energy access into a driver of peace, prosperity, and resilience in the region.
