As we deepen our early warning infrastructure across the States in the region, the question that remains unaddressed is how we intend to successfully link early response to early warning. With violent conflicts rising in the region, it is important that we address the major issue of how to plug our early warning infrastructure into credible institutions tasked with the responsibility for quick response to violence. This is because of P4P and Prevent committees’ limited capacity to handle early response in the region. The emergence of militancy in the region has resulted in an upsurge of violence and tensions. This, of course, significantly impacts the little headway we were making in developing a peace architecture in the region. It is possible to achieve sustainable peace in the region with genuine commitment and consistent push. Purposeful leadership at all levels of Partners for Peace are key to the sustainability of the P4P network. Commitment, transparency and integrity are critical characteristics on the part of everyone involved with the entire process.
Keeping in constant touch with your partners is vital to the success of any project. Partners’ action and inaction can tremendously affect outcomes of an intervention no matter how well conceived, hence the need for ongoing and constant engagement, as well as capacity strengthening and support.
